Indonesia is pretty out of the way for most American trail runners, but may be worth a visit all the same. These two videos, both previews of trail-race courses, show off the country’s spectacular natural beauty (and the challenge of running trails there).

This first video, previewing a series called the Goat Run, showcases some steep, technical, vividly green mountain terrain. (Three of the races in the series are on the island of Java; the other is one island over, on Bali.)

And if that doesn’t quite give you your scenery fix, here’s a bit more Indonesia trail for you. This video, from the Sleman Ultra Marathon 100K, follows a runner through thick jungle that opens up to a view of Mount Merapi, an extremely prominent (and still active) volcano on Java. (Disclaimer: We take no responsibility for the awkward subtitles and techno soundtrack.)
