Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Faroe Islands are between Norway and Scotland, and an hour by plane from Edinburgh, Scotland or Reykjavik, Iceland. The islands are an autonomous country in the Kingdom of Denmark with a population of more than 50,000.
Sverri Steinholm is a pastor not only for his local congregation but for the hospital and prison.
“They want to talk to a pastor,” he says, “who can keep his mouth closed.”
What does Pastor Steinholm do with the secrets and emotions and joys and struggles? He runs about it.
“I do always listen to myself. Discuss with myself. Have fun. Laugh, cry. I like when the weather is very rough. I do like to go into the mountains when it is very rough. To feel the nature scratching you—it’s good I think.”
