Anna Frost is one of the most well-known female trail ultrarunners in the world. The native New Zealander has won the Hardrock 100 for the last two years in a row and, in 2015, with partner Missy Gosney, became the first woman to finish Nolan’s 14. She has also topped the podium at Spain’s Transvulcania Ultramarathon, Colorado’s Speedgoat 50K and the competitive North Face Endurance Challenge 50-Mile in San Francisco.
But, in 2014, she was struggling to find motivation. Amid a growing celebrity status, and mounting pressure from social media, she lost sight of why she was racing in the first place. So she took some time off.
This video, produced by Matt Trappe, delves into Frost’s journey to rediscover her basic passion for running.
This weekend, Frost will toe the line of her third Hardrock 100.
