The Mount Marathon Race is a notoriously difficult 5K that takes place every July 4th weekend. It climbs approximately 3,000 feet, to the top of the eponymous peak outside Seward, Alaska, then drops an equal amount over some seriously technical terrain; the race has seen injuries and even a mysterious disappearance.

This video, by YouTube user Running Gumbi, gives an accelerated, first-person view of what it’s like to descend this famous, challenging course.
