When he’s not writing songs or playing in front of crowds, Ben Gibbard can often be found running trails. The lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie began running about eight years ago, shortly after he gave up heavy drinking and resolved to live a healthier lifestyle. The trails soon had him hooked, and he has since run a number of trail ultras.

This video, by Salomon TV, follows Gibbard on tour and into the Colorado hills, along the way exploring his motivation for running. (Bonus: Watch for a few top Boulder ultrarunners who make cameos in the audience.)
