In this video, “Nuevos Pasos,” elite Spanish ultrarunner Luis Alberto Hernando shares his experience running the 100-plus-mile Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB), an iconic mountain race through the European Alps starting in Chamonix, France, that involves over 31,000 feet of vertical gain. A previous Olympic Nordic skier, Hernando made waves in the trail-running community after winning a string of world championship titles at Skyrunner mountain-racing events.
