Bill Dooper has cheered on ultrarunners at every Leadville 100 ultramarathon since 1988. Never an entrant himself, Dooper was a sideliner, cheering on racers and making himself a beloved keystone of the ultra community. In 2014, in response to Dooper’s dream of attending the Western States 100, an Indiegogo campaign was started to raise $1,200. The campaign earned $1,361. Dooper passed away, according to iRunfar.com, from a series of strokes this morning, April 4th, 2018. Watch Salomon TV’s Episode that features his exceptional contribution to the running community.
