Kilian Jornet, it turns out, is not unbeatable. The prolific Spanish runner has won mountain races from Colorado’s Hardrock 100 to Alaska’s 5K Mount Marathon Race, and set speed records on several continents’ highest peaks: Africa’s Kilimanjaro, South America’s Aconcagua and North America’s Denali.
But after Jornet ticked off Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua, an Ecuadorian runner named Karl Egloff came along and set new records on both peaks. Egloff also has plans to make an attempt on Denali in 2016.
Earlier this summer, the two record-setting mountain athletes met up for a casual jaunt in the mountains. This video, by Montaz-Rosset Film, is the result of that encounter.
