“100 miles is not that far … It just isn’t as hard anymore once you go so far past what you think what your limitations are. All of the sudden all your other limitations are easier.”
—Karl Meltzer

On May 17, 2014, Karl Meltzer outlasted the field to earn his fourth Massanutten Mountain Trails 100-mile title. This marked his 36th career win at the 100-Mile distance, a staggering record that includes six Wasatch, five Hardrock, and now, four MMT titles.

Meltzer is also riding the longest streak in ultra history, winning at least one 100-mile race over 14 consecutive seasons and counting. Here, Trail Runner magazine and Duct Tape Sports present a short video on Meltzer.
