Travis Kauffman, 31, of Fort Collins, Colorado, was out for a typical run on his local trails in Horsetooth Mountain Park outside of Fort Collins. When he heard crunching pine needles behind him, he turned to find he was being stalked by a mountain lion, not 10 feet away. The lion sprang onto Kauffman and he did what he could to keep himself alive. The two wrestled for several minutes before Kauffman could kill the mountain lion and get himself free.
According to the state of Colorado, the animal was between 35 and 40 pounds.
