Dakota Jones’s twin loves of running and climbing have inspired him to pursue wilder and bolder runs up some of the world’s most impressive summits, in a faster, lighter and more efficient style. “Where does running end and climbing begin?” he asks in this video by Clif Bar, as he scrambles up Boulder’s iconic Flatirons and explores the snowy heights of Mount Rainier.
Ever since he broke onto the ultrarunning scene at age 18, Jones has been shattering expectations. He placed second at the 2011 Hardrock 100, at the age of 21, and bested his time by roughly an hour and a half the following year, for a third-place finish. He has earned three podium finishes at the Moab Red Hot 50K and two at the North Face Endurance Challenge 50-miler, in San Francisco, all before turning 25.
