The 2017 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) took place September 1-2. The race, which circumnavigates the Mont-Blanc massif through Italy, Switzerland and France, routinely attracts deep competition. This year saw a particularly stacked field.

On their way around the 105-mile course, runners had to contend with cold temperatures, high wind, rain and snow. Andrew Drummond, 36, of New Hampshire, captured some of the race on video, from the leaders to those struggling to eek out a finish.
