Flatirons Running is partnering with the Fourmile Fire Protection District to put together two challenges for Boulder’s trail runners on Sunday, May 15. All proceeds go to the Fourmile Fire Protection District, which was hit hard by massive flooding in 2013.

The first challenge is the 10-mile Ascent, a race into the mountains of Boulder County designed by top runner Joe Grant. This will be the third year of the Ascent, which begins at the base of Fourmile Canyon and climbs to Gold Hill.

The second challenge, in its inaugural year, is the Boulder Mountain Marathon, also designed by Grant. It’s 26.2 miles of varied terrain and spectacular views, starting and finishing at the historic Gold Hill Inn. (You can check out an interactive map of the course here.)

Also new to the event is the First Annual Salomon/Trail Runner Après Race Party. The fun starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes until 2:00, with live music, great food by RAD and the Gold Hill Inn, beer by Avery Brewing and lawn games.

Salomon, Trail Runner and other sponsors will also be doing giveaways throughout the day. Register in-store at Flatirons Running or online at raceroster.com.
