The legendary Western States Endurance Run is coming up on June 25, but the athlete whose name has come to be synonymous with that race won’t be on the starting line. The first video in a new series from Hoka and Wahoo explains why.

No American man has ever won the flagship race at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, or UTMB. Jim Walmsley is hoping to be the first this fall, and his master plan to do so starts with an extreme first step: moving to France to train for a European race in a European setting.
