Nike wised up to the fact that the “flywire cables” on the upper of the Wildhorse 4 left something to be desired and went back to the construction of the insanely popular 3 model, cutting some weight while they were at it.

The Air Zoom Wildhorse 5 is comfortable, grippy, responsive and fast, and performs well on most terrain, save for ice. The wide last and breathable multi-layer mesh upper keep the foot relaxed and comfortable and the Zoom Air unit in the heel provides extra cushion. The Wildhorse 5 is a great daily running partner, best suited for distances 50 miles and under.

Tester-monial: “The Wildhorse 5 seems to have found a way to integrate all of the best bits from the previous incarnations. It is light but cushioned and doesn’t lack in response or ground feel. It is a bit stiff to start but lets the foot sink into the shoe for a natural feel with lots of room for toes and a nice cushioned heel cup.” —Michael Linscott, Bellevue, Washington
