Merrel’s MTL Long Sky is your ticket for mountain escapes. The aggressive lugs on the Vibram Megagrip sole are race-day ready, and capable of tackling your most technical adventures. The EVA midsole sports a medial post for a bit of pronation control, and comfort on varied terrain.
An internal bootie and solid lacing system lock your feet in place and help prevent blisters in challenging terrain. Testers felt the shoe was a bit stiff and heavy but has a hefty toebox for the wide-of foot. These shoes are probably best for short and steep adventures over soft-trail ultra distances.
PROS:
- Very grippy
- Bootie and lacing system prevent foot from sliding
CONS:
- Stiff
TESTERMONIAL: “The MTL Long Skys were great right out of the box. They handled so well on a variety of terrain, from steeper scrambles to flowy singletrack. Also, the color scheme is pretty sweet.”
