The HOKA ONE ONE Stinson ATR 6 is one of the Hoka-iest Hokas. With 38MM of stack height, this cushioned cruiseliner is built for long days on soft surfaces. The Stinson will feel familiar to runners who have been digging the max-cush Bondi for their road runs.
A flared base lends stability to the maximum cush, which cradles the foot for extra comfort and security despite the stack height. The shoe’s footprint is huge, which helps with stability and is surprisingly nimble. A little extra bottom helps you feel secure on tougher terrain and downhills. A slab of molded EVA offers all the cushion and protection you could want, with just a touch of rigidity for responsiveness. There’s just enough of a rocker for an extra-smooth ride and decent toe-off given the size of the shoe. An early-stage meta-rocker and 5mm drop give this shoe a sportier feel than looks might lead one to believe.
The outside uses Vibram MegaGrip 4mm Lugs, which are substantial enough to ride over gravel and fire roads, and are at home on softer, buffed trail and roads as well. Clocking in at 11.6 oz (for a men’s 9), this isn’t a fast and light shoe, but rather your monster-truck fire road rallyer. Despite the weight, it doesn’t feel heavy and carries well on the foot. The upper is made from a more sustainable Unifit REPREVE yarn, which takes the polyester plastics from the leftovers of other products and puts them to work in the upper.
This is your dirt-road trainer, built for long days where comfort is king but you don’t want to sacrifice a little speedy fun along the way.
