Mountain Hardwear Fluid Race Vest

With the Fluid Race Vest, one of its 2012 debut hydration systems, Mountain Hardwear hit a home run. While you’ll have to supply your own bladder (we recommend the CamelBak 50-ounce Antidote reservoir), the vest is so lightweight we could hardly tell that we had it on. It has enough room for essentials: front mesh pockets large enough to store a few gels and a smart phone, and a backside shock cord for an extra layer or two. One drawback: the vest hits shelves this spring with only one size (fits most), but Mountain Hardwear plans to add another size next year. Petite runners might experience unwanted side-to-side swaying.
