At a mere 2.9 ounces, the stripped-down Sync is the lightest headlamp we tested—although because its weight is concentrated at the front, it ends up feeling more cumbersome than the slightly heavier Black Diamond Sprinter. With no top strap, it also sits less securely, and adjusting the lamp’s position is an awkward two-hand job.

Still, the Sync works in a pinch, and you can’t beat the price. Its extremely light weight makes it a good emergency headlamp to stash in your pack, or an option for long runs that start or end in a bit of darkness.
