VIDEO: Tackling the Bob Graham, England’s Epic 24-Hour Challenge

Get access to everything we publish when you sign up for Outside+.

The Bob Graham Round came about in 1932, when Bob Graham, a resident of England’s mountainous Lake District, tagged 42 local peaks in under 24 hours. In the 84 years since, the roughly 66-mile circuit has become a U.K. fell-running classic, with nearly 2,000 runners having completed it.

This video, by Salomon Running TV and the African Attachment, follows U.K. runner Ricky Lightfoot on his quest to finish the Bob Graham, and explores the culture of the route by talking to longtime record holder Billy Bland (13:53, in 1982) and others.
