In addition to winning the Western States 100-mile Endurance Run in 2014 and in 2015, Rob Krar is a three-time TransRockies champion, course-record holder at the Moab Red Hot 55K and FKT holder on both the single and double crossing of the Grand Canyon. He has wins and podium finishes across the board, and is one of the most well-known ultrarunners at the moment—to most, he seems unstoppable.
But the most difficult struggles are also sometimes the least visible. In this 2014 short film, “depressions,” filmmaker Joel Wolpert follows Krar on a 30-mile trail run in the Grand Canyon, during which Krar opens up about his struggle with depression.
