The Lake Sonoma 50 Mile, held this Saturday in Healdsburg, California—smack dab in wine country—showcases the picturesque scenery of Lake Sonoma and its surrounding rolling hills.
But runners don’t just come for the course (86 percent singletrack, with an elevation gain of 10,500 feet); Lake Sonoma offers elites this year’s last chance to qualify for the vaunted Western States 100, making it a hotly contested spring showdown.
As this year’s race gets underway Saturday morning, check out this video, by Billy Yang, which highlights both the views and competition from the 2015 race.
