In this video, “Nuevos Pasos,” elite Spanish ultrarunner Luis Alberto Hernando shares his experience running the 100-plus-mile Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB), an iconic mountain race through the European Alps starting in Chamonix, France, that involves over 31,000 feet of vertical gain. A previous Olympic Nordic skier, Hernando made waves in the trail-running community after winning a string of world championship titles at Skyrunner mountain-racing events.

“Nuevos Pasos” follows Hernando as he battles the grueling UTMB course, discusses what mountain running means to him and shares what keeps him going on some of the world’s most difficult trails.
