After training for years as an elite high-school and collegiate runner, Shandi Kano set her sights on the 2013 Boston Marathon. As the race approached, however, she found her training habits and tight work schedule becoming unhealthy. On race day, Kano failed to meet her goal, and was shaken by the horrific bombings at the finish line.
Kano quit her job, packed her bags and headed to the mountains, where she re-learned how to run, not for external success, but for her herself.
