New Hardrock 100 Movie Releases Trailer

The Hardrock 100 Endurance Run is one of the most renowned mountain races in the world. Passing through southern Colorado’s vertiginous San Juan Range in one epic loop, the 100-miler is a supreme challenge for pro runners and amateur enthusiasts alike.

Because of the race’s small, old-school vibe and brutal course, a unique culture has grown up around it. July after July, runners descend on the tiny burg of Silverton to compete, crew, volunteer or simply be part of the community.

This merry band is the subject of Matt Trappe’s new film, “Kissing the Rock.” We hear the perspectives of Hardrockers old and new: race director Dale Garland, 19-time finisher Blake Wood, 2015 champions Anna Frost (pictured above) and Kilian Jornet, Hans-Dieter Weisshaar, who became Hardrock’s oldest finisher in 2013, at age 73, and more.

The film’s trailer, which was released at the beginning of December, can be viewed above; the full version will be out in early 2016.
