SCARPA
SPIN ULTRA
MSRP: $150
Weight: 9.3 oz (M 8.5), 7.8 oz (W 7.5)
Drop: 6mm
Rock plate: No
Fit: True to size / narrow
One of the lightest shoes we reviewed, the Scarpa Spin Ultra (men’s version here) is a super functional all-arounder with a somewhat stiff yet softly-cushioned midsole and high-density EVA insert for added protection. While the shoe performed well up to 50-mile distances, it’s a great daily grinder and probably less of a racing shoe or mega-distance shoe due to its lightweight, simple design.
The upper features a toe bumper, gusseted tongue and rigid heel protection and the traditional laces stay in place. The Vibram outsole is grippy on most surfaces other than mud and ice and performed well on technical terrain, grass and hardpack.
