Featuring Black Diamond’s Z-Pole design, this super-light, three-section, carbon-fiber marvel deploys quickly and folds down (via a push button) to a compact 15.5 inches (120-centimeter length). A comfortable foam grip with extension for choking up on steep terrain and sidehills and hook-and-loop-adjustable wrist strap rounds out this instant fastpacking hit. Comes with both rubber and carbide tips. Add three ounces and subtract $50 for an aluminum-shafted version. A drawback is that the poles are non-adjustable.
