BUFF Pack Run R Hat
Price: $30
Weight: 1.05 ounces

Why review a running hat? Hats are hats, right? I threw on the BUFF Pack Run R on a particularly blustery day for a Rocky Mountain run and was immediately impressed by two things: 1) the stretchy and flexible fabric (think women’s swimsuit material) makes for a snug and shapely fit right off the bat and 2) the bill is the perfect size and design—not too big, not too small and not so wide that I look like I’m wearing my grandpa’s visor from 1972.

The Pack Run R is unique in that it can be crumpled up, thrown in your bag, smashed with a pair of running shoes and, upon retrieval, will go back to its original shape. The fabric is breathable and wicks sweat well. The sizing system is a cinch in the back that is easy to adjust mid run if needed, a bonus for people with ponytails who don’t want to mess with hair caught in snaps. The hat has 98% UV protection and the BUFF logo is reflective.

Amazingly, the hat stayed secure in the wind—in super high gusts, I flipped up the bill, a la Hal Koerner, and continued on without a hitch. This hat has moved to the top of my list.
