Ship Lake Pass Trail, Chugach State Park, Alaska

BETA: A well-maintained service road leads to a singletrack trail that climbs into the alpine environment high above Anchorage and offers great views of the Chugach Range and the Cook Inlet. Great in summer, even better in the fall when willows and hemlocks are in full color and the blueberries are in season. Watch out for moose!

DIFFICULTY: Moderate, 12-mile, out-and-back round trip with 1800 foot elevation gain to Ship Lake Pass (4100 feet).
