Hungerford Games Half Marathon

In its second year, this race might win both the award for Punniest Event Name and Best Awards Ever. Focused on giving racers a “uniquely arboreal experience,” the Games take place in stunning Michigan woods peaking in fall colors. Finishers will receive beautiful medals crafted out of local wood and branded on-site. Top-three finishers will also receive chainsaw-carved wooden trophies. There are accompanying marathon- and 50-mile distance races, with ultra finishers earning a hand-crafted hiking stick.

Redstone Castle Trail 10K

Also new last year, the Redstone Castle Trail 10K invites runners to the quaint, alpine village of Redstone, Colorado to explore a brand new trail—only open during this event—up Sawmill Hill toward the historic Redstone Castle. Enjoy the fiery hues of thick aspen groves, picturesque views of the roaring Crystal River and Chair Peak at the foot of the Elk Mountains and a taste of history in this old coal-mining town. Age-group awards will be offered from local vendors. Round out your race with a stroll through town, an ice cream cone at the general store and a dunk in the local hot springs.
