Registration Opens for Earth School DuPont State Forest 12K
JANUARY 14, 2009, DuPont State Forest, North Carolina--Registration is
now open for Jus' Running hosted Earth School DuPont State Forest 12K
Trail Race, to be held Saturday, March 27, 2010.
This tenth annual event benefits Friends of the DuPont State Forest, which is a non-profit organization that works to help the forest through fund raising, building construction projects and upgrades, trail construction projects and maintenance, and public awareness initiatives.
Race director Norman Blair, says, "this is a mellow spring race course to help break off the winter blues. It's just a nice challenging course, but not too extreme." (www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n6wGbZZu5U )
DuPont State Forest is a well-known spot for at least a half-dozen stunning waterfalls. Runners toe the line at 10 a.m. and will journey through rhododendron thickets, a stream crossing, and by a historic cemetery as they make their way to the finish line, where Boone Bars and Doc Chey's Noodles will be waiting. Awards will be given by Jus' Running and Black Dome Mountain Sports of Asheville.
